Michael Day
Statement
I live in Cardiff and work in Sheffield, and my practice reflects a
regular displacement between the two cities by maintaining an interdisciplinary,
improvisational nature, using a wide range of media and technologies.
My work is characterised by a visual economy and sense of displaced
distance from the viewer, often exploring the impact of new technologies
on authorship, on art consumption, and on visual culture as a whole.
My recent research has been into the counter-ideological nature of boredom,
and the aesthetics of blandness in Chinese visual culture.
